Clean River Partners Volunteer Corps Intern (CCCE)

**NOTE: This is a low or unfunded opportunity. You will be eligible to apply for summer internship funding from Carleton if you will be returning to campus in the fall.

Position Summary:
Help Clean River Partners expand our volunteer program to get more people actively contributing to a healthy watershed! The Volunteer Corps Intern will assist in Clean River Partner’s community engagement with members and broader community members to showcase our work and invite more folks in. Primary duties will include assisting CRP’s Community Engagement Coordinator in planning and conducting outreach for events that educate and inspire community members to care for the water, land, and climate. If you are highly organized, passionate about the environment, and want to support communities that improve our land and water, this is a great role for you!

This job can be performed hybrid, but requires at least one in-office day per week and will also require being on-site while preparing for and during events. Sites are to be determined throughout the Cannon River Watershed. We are flexible on the start date, giving the student the option to combine their internship with working Carleton’s Reunion weekend or Lighten Up Reuse sale. Hours are flexible and can be agreed upon at the start of the internship.

About the Volunteer Corps: CRP’s Volunteer Corps is rooted in community engagement principles such as building relationships, learning from and with each other, co-creating activities, and committing to shared goals. Over the course of 2024, CRP will identify 2-5 community organizational partners who are trusted ambassadors who also share similar goals of promoting environmental, personal, and social health. We will work with these partners to co-create volunteer opportunities that would be meaningful for their organizational goals and community members. The goals of this program are to 1) build the environmental health of the watershed through volunteer projects with measurable outcomes such as tree plantings, native species planting, invasive plant removal, or river and stream clean up; 2) promote the physical and mental health of community members through volunteerism; 3) build social connections amongst volunteers; and 4) provide a welcoming and belonging environment for all potential volunteers in our community, especially building relationships with BIPOC community members, LGBTQIA+ community members, youth, and people with disabilities to develop meaningful and relevant avenues to participation.

Our Organization: Clean River Partners is an environmental non-profit based in Northfield, MN dedicated to inspiring people and organizations to value, protect, and improve the Cannon River Watershed’s land and water. We envision a community that creates and protects a watershed with healthy soils; drinkable groundwater; and clean, fishable, and swimmable rivers, lakes, and streams. In order to serve the community in constructive ways, we focus on three core values: build resilience, act equitably, and engage. To learn more about our work, visit our website.
