Summer Research Program in Department of Pharmaceutics, University of Minnesota

Program Description:
The Department of Pharmaceutics has a limited number of summer research internship positions in our laboratories. The successful candidates will conduct innovative pharmaceutical research under the guidance of prominent faculty members and talented graduate students.

Interns will work part-time (up to 30 hours per week) and be paid $16.25 per hour for up to 12 weeks (June through August).

Ongoing research projects currently include:

  1. Drug delivery to the central nervous system to treat Alzheimer’s disease, brain cancer, chronic pain, addiction, and epilepsy
  2. Material science and crystal engineering
  3. Development and testing of pharmaceutical formulations as well as novel drug delivery system
  4. Engineering nanotechnology platforms for the diagnosis and treatment of cancers and brain diseases
  5. Investigating pharmacokinetic behavior of small molecules, proteins, and antibodies.

Duties of the selected interns may include, but are not limited to:

  • Collaborate and coordinate with other lab members to facilitate ongoing research studies
  • Plan and execute experiments independently
  • Gather and analyze data
  • Calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment

No academic credit will be granted for this program. Applications will be considered on a rolling basis.

Qualifications

All required qualifications must be documented on application materials.

Required Qualifications:
1. U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
2. Currently enrolled in a BS program or equivalent degree program.
3. Interested in pursuing a career in Pharmaceutical research and development.
