Game Development Internship

Do you want to put your coding skills to practical use? Do you want to get experience playing with new tools? If so, we might have a unique opportunity for you.

SayKid is an education technology startup that has developed a screen-free, play-based learning system designed to look like a plush toy! See here. By combining voice tech with tangible play, we help kids learn in an actively engaging way - without screens!

In particular, we look for students who have the ability to think big and are not afraid to do things no one has done before. The project might be to create an interactive board game, develop an interactive experience to help kids learn math, or something else. Either way, we'll provide as much (or as little) support as you need.

Project Goals (Game Development):

  • Partner with the SayKid team to define the learning objective
  • Design the experience and content
  • Build a voice-interactive game!

We recognize students often want to learn new areas, so we invite students with both technical and non-technical interests (education, language, etc.). Ultimately, our hope is that you learn and have fun working with a company that wants to change how all kids learn.

SayKid is an education technology startup that has developed the world’s 1st screen-less, play-based learning system. By combining voice technology with tangible play, we help kids learn in an active, interactive, and engaging way - without screens.

Recently, SayKid won the Grand Prize in the Alexa EdTech Challenge, was recognized by Harvard as one of the organizations with the greatest potential to transform early education, and was the subject of a TEDx Talk.

A cover letter is NOT required. However, if there’s something you'd like us to know that isn't on your resume, let us know via email or submit a cover letter (as the first page of your resume), 1 document, and upload it as a resume. This opportunity is open to all, but we will lean more toward students with a drive, creativity, and maturity.

Unless you are graduating in June 2025, we encourage you to apply for summer internship funding from Carleton.
